Return of Giant Tortoises to Floreana
Giant tortoises have been introduced to the Galápagos island of Floreana, marking their presence there for the first time in over 180 years.
A total of 158 juvenile tortoises, bred in captivity, were released on the island.
This initiative is part of the Floreana Ecological Restoration Project, which is led by the Galápagos National Park Directorate.
