Worker Seriously Injured in Meat Mincer Accident at Adelaide Central Market

A worker sustained a serious hand injury after becoming trapped in a meat mincing machine at Marino Fine Foods, a butcher located in the Adelaide Central Market.

Emergency services responded to the butcher shop around 5 p.m. on Friday following reports that a man in his early 20s had his hand caught in the industrial equipment.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Paramedics treated the worker at the scene before transporting him to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a serious hand injury.

Curtains were placed around the shop as emergency crews worked inside. Fire trucks and ambulances were present on Gouger Street during the response.

The butcher shop closed for several hours following the incident.

SafeWork SA Investigation Underway

SafeWork SA confirmed notification of an incident at Adelaide Central Market on Friday, February 20. A spokesperson stated that inspectors attended the scene and inquiries are continuing.
