View source

The Armidale Ute Show is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary on March 7, held in conjunction with the annual Armidale Show. This year marks a significant milestone for the event, introducing new competitive elements.

Chief steward Adam Tadman confirmed that reaching a decade is a significant milestone for the event.

This year introduces a new four-wheel drive time trial, adding to the competitive offerings alongside the established 4WD barrels event.

A Look Back and Forward

Event categories will largely align with previous years, though last year saw a reduced turnout of approximately 15 utes compared to the usual 45, primarily due to cyclone conditions. Despite this, the show regularly draws entrants from various regions, including Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, south-east Queensland, Sydney, and Nambucca, showcasing its widespread appeal.

Diverse Categories for Every Ute

The show accommodates a wide range of vehicles, from pristine street utes to robust four-wheel drives and hard-working vehicles. Main categories for competition include:

  • Holden vs Ford
  • Street
  • 4WD
  • BNS Bandit
  • BNS Wannabe
  • Feral
  • Chicks
  • 'Other' (open category)

Sub-categories are designed to recognize unique achievements and styles, such as:

  • Furthest Travelled
  • Most Stickers
  • Most Aerials
  • Best Camp Setup
  • Classic

Thrilling Grass Events

Grass events promise a full day of excitement for spectators and participants. Highlights include:

  • A Bark Off competition, with classes for V8, six-cylinder, four-cylinder, and diesel engines.
