LaFleur Sees Advantage in Delayed Coaching Staff Build

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur, hired on February 1, began building his staff later than most other head coaches.

LaFleur views this delayed start as a potential advantage.

LaFleur acknowledged that many assistant coaches had already secured positions for the upcoming season when he started his hiring process. He believes the late start provided an opportunity to evaluate candidates he might not have otherwise considered.

He described the ongoing hiring of coaches by other teams in January and early February. LaFleur suggested that sometimes, the unavailability of one candidate can lead to discovering another who is a better fit. He framed the challenges of the process as ultimately beneficial.

Key Coordinator Roles Filled

LaFleur confirmed that Nathaniel Hackett was his primary choice for offensive coordinator. He also stated that after evaluating the incumbent, Nick Rallis, he determined Rallis was the most suitable defensive coordinator for the team.

LaFleur expects the full coaching staff to be finalized shortly.
