Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green Now Available for Pre-Order on Nintendo Switch eShop

The classic Game Boy Advance titles, Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green, have become available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch eShop. These titles are paid re-releases of the original Game Boy Advance games, with details emerging regarding their pricing, features, and potential integration with services like Pokémon Home.

Announcement and Availability

The classic Game Boy Advance titles, Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green, have officially appeared for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Their presence was initially noted in the "upcoming" section by observers.

Release dates vary, with one source reporting February 28th, coinciding with Pokémon Day and a potential Pokémon Presents presentation, while another indicates a launch around February 27th.

Pricing and Editions

Each game is presented as a paid re-release. The pricing for these individual titles is approximately $30.00 AUD, £16.99, or $20 USD.

Importantly, these re-releases are not included as part of the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Each individual game purchase will also include support for a single language.

Game Features

The file size for each re-released version is approximately 40MB. This small size strongly suggests that they are direct ports of the original Game Boy Advance titles, rather than full remasters.

The titles do not include any new content, graphical upgrades, or modern online play/trading functionality.

Local wireless play is supported for player interaction. However, Save Data Cloud Backup is notably not supported for these titles.

Integration and Support Status

Initial information from US eShop listings had indicated support for the Pokémon Home service.

However, subsequent eShop listings for both versions of the games have since removed any references to this feature.

As of current reports, official confirmation for Pokémon Home integration remains unconfirmed.

Market Reception

Despite being available only for pre-order, Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green have already achieved top positions on the eShop charts, according to one report, indicating strong anticipation.
