Emily Wickersham Returns to NCIS: Bishop's Dark Path and Unresolved Bonds

Actress Emily Wickersham is set to return as Ellie Bishop in the March 3 midseason premiere of NCIS, following a brief appearance in the fall finale. Wickersham discussed her return, her character's recent activities, and key relationships in an interview.

Bishop's Controversial Past and Dangerous Present

Bishop exited NCIS in 2021 after being disgraced as an agent who seemingly leaked NSA documents and trained with ex-CIA instructor Odette. Upon her return, she carries "baggage" and is now the target of the specialized NCIS Elite team.

Wickersham stated that returning to the familiar set was exciting and acknowledged that Bishop, like herself, has changed significantly since her departure.

Bishop is currently operating in a "gray" or "dark" area, having experienced events different from her time at NCIS, which has put her on the NCIS Elite's radar.

Rekindling Bonds: Torres and the Unresolved Kiss

She turns to Nick Torres, citing their strong bond and the trust established through their complex friendship and past romantic undertones.

Wickersham hinted that the unresolved kiss between Bishop and Torres might be addressed, emphasizing their enduring chemistry.

Team Tensions: McGee's Frustration and Knight's Wariness

The dynamic between Bishop and Tim McGee is expected to be tense, as McGee and other team members felt Bishop left abruptly without clear explanations. Bishop's relationship with Jessica Knight, Torres's current partner, is characterized by Knight's wariness and Bishop's observation that they are effective partners, despite potential underlying jealousy.
