Snapseed for iOS Officially Launches Integrated Camera Feature

Snapseed for iOS has officially launched its new camera feature, following a soft-launch in December. This integration transforms the app beyond a standalone image editor.

Snapseed for iOS now features a dedicated camera, expanding its capabilities beyond traditional image editing.

Previously, access to the camera was limited to Lock Screen widgets, Control Center, or Camera Control. A dedicated camera icon is now available in the top-right corner of the Snapseed app, providing direct and immediate access.

Pro Controls and Manual Adjustments

Since last year, Snapseed has incorporated manual adjustments for exposure and focus. Users can activate "PRO" mode via a top-left toggle, which adds controls for ISO, Shutter Speed, and Focus to the bottom of the viewfinder. A skeuomorphic dial is also present for precise adjustments.

For ease of use, the flash control has been relocated to the bottom-left, with zoom positioned on the opposite side.

Real-time Film Emulations

In addition to custom saved looks, the Snapseed camera offers real-time film emulation with a variety of styles, including:

  • KP1 (Kodak Portra 400 inspiration)
  • KP2 (Kodak Portra 160 inspiration)
  • KG1 (Kodak Gold 200 inspiration)
  • KE1 (Kodak E200 inspiration)
  • FS1 (Fuji Superia 200 inspiration)
  • FS2 (Fuji Superia 800 inspiration)
  • FP1 (Fuji Pro 400h inspiration)
  • AG1 (Agfa Optima 200 inspiration)
  • AS1 (Agfa Scala 200 inspiration)
  • PD1 (Polaroid 600 inspiration)
  • TC1 (Technicolor inspiration)

A distinct rewind button animation is displayed when switching between these film styles, enhancing the user experience.

Every photo taken with the Snapseed camera includes a full editing stack, allowing users to modify or revert any aspect of the look after the photo is saved.

Viewfinder Customization

Additional settings permit selecting different Color Themes for the viewfinder, such as Editor, Dusk, Negative, Steel, Haze, and Depth, allowing users to personalize their shooting experience.

Snapseed version 3.15.0 is currently available for free in the App Store. Google is in the process of updating the Android application with the redesigned editor previously introduced for iPhone and iPad.
