Official Falls Ill Near President Lai Ching-te During Lunar New Year Event

During official Lunar New Year celebrations, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te was present at an event. Lin Pei-huo, Chief of the Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, who was standing near the President, began to show signs of illness. Lin subsequently vomited, with some spray affecting President Lai Ching-te's shoulder as he attempted to move away from the podium.

The 66-year-old President turned to check on Lin, and medical staff promptly attended to the official. The event was temporarily paused following the incident.

President Lai Ching-te later addressed the attendees, explaining that Lin's family had recently contracted norovirus, which was understood to be the cause of the official's illness.
