Fremantle Signs VFL Small Forward Chris Scerri to Rookie Spot
Fremantle Football Club has officially signed VFL small forward Chris Scerri to a rookie position, secured through the pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP). Scerri had been training with the Dockers throughout the summer months.
The confirmation of Scerri's rookie spot was reported by AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey. The 19-year-old was among several players invited to train with the Dockers during the pre-season. Another trialist, young ruck Zac Harding, concluded his trial earlier in the month.
Football Boss Joe Brierty Praises Scerri
Fremantle's football boss, Joe Brierty, had previously commented on Scerri's efforts during his trial. He specifically lauded the young forward's dedication:
"His work ethic and his desire to learn has been really impressive, to be honest."
Brierty further highlighted Scerri's close collaboration with player Sam Switkowski, observing similarities in their agility and potential roles within the team. This suggests Scerri could emulate Switkowski's impact and fit into a similar team dynamic.
