Texas Tech junior forward JT Toppin will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee. The diagnosis was confirmed by an MRI following an injury during the team's 72-67 loss to Arizona State on Tuesday.

Injury Details and Diagnosis

The injury occurred with 6:03 remaining in the second half. Toppin collapsed while driving toward the basket and indicated pain in his right leg. He required assistance to leave the court and did not return to the game.

An MRI confirmed the torn ACL, sidelining the key forward for the rest of the 2025-26 season.

Toppin's Significant Impact

Before his exit, Toppin had been having a standout performance, recording 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four blocks. He had been averaging an impressive 21.9 points per game prior to the injury, highlighting his crucial role for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech trailed 61-56 when Toppin left the game, underscoring the immediate void his departure created.

Head coach Grant McCasland initially stated post-game that further evaluation was needed for Toppin's lower leg injury, acknowledging the player's disappointment.
