Pitman Parks Closed Amid Investigation
Two parks in Pitman, Alcyon Park and Betty Park, have been closed as county and state officials collaborate on the investigation. Residents living near Betty Park along Lake Avenue have reported seeing sick geese in their yards. One resident noted a disoriented goose in their yard which animal control subsequently removed.

Gloucester County officials have stated that the cases are presumed to be avian flu. Preventative measures are being implemented, including increased monitoring of affected areas.
Officials are advising the public to exercise caution, emphasizing that the risk to humans is considered low.
They recommend against handling sick or dead birds or their droppings and urge pet owners to keep animals away from affected zones.
