Battlefield 6 Devs Address Player Retention Concerns Ahead of Season 2 Launch
Battlefield 6 developers have expressed concern regarding player retention following the reveal of the game's Season 2 roadmap. Season 2 is scheduled to launch on February 17, 2025, detailing content for both the main game and its battle royale counterpart, REDSEC.
A developer statement shared via charlieINTEL on X indicated that the team is hopeful for a return of previous players and an influx of new players after the release of the Season 2 trailer and roadmap.
Player Engagement: Initial Success vs. Current Decline
At its launch, Battlefield 6 experienced significant player engagement. It reached a concurrent player count of 500,000 on Steam during its beta phase and exceeded 700,000 upon full release.
However, current player counts have declined, with averages ranging between 50,000 and 70,000 players recently. This contrasts sharply with titles like ARC Raiders, which has averaged between 250,000 and 290,000 players in recent days.
What's Coming in Season 2
The upcoming Season 2 update 1.2.1.0 is set to introduce new content. Players can look forward to new weapons, the "Contaminated" map, and new limited-time modes.
