Extensive Road Damage and Water Supply Outages
Traffic was initially brought to a standstill on Wynnum Road following the burst. By Monday evening, the water flow was contained, revealing a large hole in the road surface.

Tingalpa State School Grapples with Water Loss
The disruption extended to educational facilities, with Tingalpa State School directly impacted. The school communicated to parents that it expected to be without water for "the next few days."
In response, the school's P&C group advised parents about the setup of portable toilets in a car park and requested that children be kept home where feasible to manage the situation.
Diversions Lead to Further Complications
The burst main necessitated significant traffic management, with eastbound traffic diversions established between Boundary Street and Hamilton Street.
Further complicating matters, on Tuesday morning, a truck struck powerlines on one of the diverted routes, according to the Queensland Fire Department, necessitating police intervention and additional traffic management.
Local councillor Lisa Atwood expressed hopes for the road's reopening later on Tuesday, acknowledging potential variables affecting the schedule.
Heavy Rainfall or Temperature Changes Eyed as Potential Factors
A spokesperson for Urban Utilities suggested that heavy rainfall or temperature changes could be factors contributing to the pipe burst.
A Tingalpa resident reported water entering their driveway on Monday afternoon and experienced a loss of water supply on Tuesday morning. The resident also noted being disturbed by repair crews working overnight to address the extensive damage.
