Uncapped Trio Named to Indigenous All Stars Squad, Woolf Puts Representation Over NRL Dream

Brent Woolf, Oliver Pascoe, and Caleb Tohi have been named to the Indigenous All Stars squad for this year's highly anticipated match in New Zealand. Remarkably, these three players will participate without having previously played a single match in the NRL.

Woolf, who steps in for the injured Ethan Roberts, shared a profound perspective on his call-up. He stated that representing the Indigenous All Stars is more important to him than playing in the NRL.

"Representing the Indigenous All Stars is more important to me than playing in the NRL." Woolf views this opportunity as a significant platform to assess his skills against established NRL players.

A Veteran's Journey to the All Stars

Woolf's pathway to the Indigenous All Stars has been a long and challenging one. He has played in the QLD Cup for nine years and boasts an impressive record of over 100 reserve-grade appearances. His commitment recently paid off with a victory in the 2025 Koori Knockout alongside the Newcastle Yowies.

However, his career has also been marked by considerable setbacks. Woolf has endured significant injuries, including two shoulder reconstructions, an ACL rupture, and a year-long absence due to Covid-19, in addition to a recent hamstring injury.

Family Ties and Star Company

Now 28, Woolf had previously voiced doubts about achieving his NRL dream due to his age. He credits pivotal figures in his life for his persistence and success in rugby league. He credits his father, Ben Woolf, and uncle, Dolphins head coach Kristian Woolf, as major influences in his career.

This special opportunity will see Woolf playing alongside some of the biggest names in the sport. He will line up alongside notable players such as Josh Addo-Carr, Nicho Hynes, and Jayden Campbell, promising an exciting and high-calibre match.
