Jaguars Transition Hunter to Starting Cornerback Role
The Jacksonville Jaguars intend to make a significant positional shift, transitioning rookie wide receiver/cornerback Hunter into a starting cornerback role. The plan for the upcoming season is for Hunter to play full-time on defense and part-time at receiver.
This adjustment aligns with previous comments from Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone, who noted the team's greater need at cornerback but also indicated Hunter would continue playing on both sides of the ball.
During the 2025 season, Hunter saw action in 324 offensive plays and 162 defensive plays before sustaining a season-ending knee injury.
Last season, Hunter showcased his versatility across both offense and defense. On offense, he recorded 28 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, he contributed with 11 solo tackles and three passes defensed.
